Basic Requirements for Networking

Home networking of computers can be done with some handy tools and materials kept in a closet, shelf, drawer or at least a sturdy cardboard box. A basic computer toolkit which can be bought from just about any office supply store is a must. The kit should include a Phillips screwdriver, wire cutters, wire strippers and cable crimpers that work for your network cable type. All the other materials needed consist of extra cable, extra connectors, patch cable and extra network cards.

It makes sense to buy at least twice as much cable as you need since something will go wrong at some point in time that would necessitate replacing a bad cable. Connectors go bad more often than you’d like so it also makes sense to have plenty of spares. The same goes with patch cables and network cards. You will rest easier if you know that an identical replacement is at hand. However, a spare network adapter card is easier to justify with larger networks due to its cost.

The Power of Touch

The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine is dedicated to the study of touch therapy and its direct correlation to health and well-being. Their tests have proven that massage as a complementary part of a therapeutic regimen significantly improves an individual’s immune system.

By reducing tension on muscles in certain areas of the body, massage reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol and increases dopamine or commonly known as the “happy hormone.”

Massage therapy reduces anxiety, depression, body pains related to stress and improved sleep. The institute’s studies have also pointed to its significant help to patients suffering from anorexia and adolescents with ADHD.
