The Newest Network
If there were one term used to describe the Internet of today it would be social networking. Social networking began around the same time the term Web 2.0 surfaced and became one of the ways of interpreting what it was. MySpace and then FaceBook became the main sites for social networking with dozens of other smaller ones. FaceBook became more than just a way for college students to stay in touch, reconnect, and meet new people but a way of interacting with people of all ages and from all walks of life. It was even used by businesses and public figures in order to advance their causes and bring them publicity.
Then came Twitter, which took over the social networking world by a storm. After being around for a couple of years, celebrities and news stations picked up on it and it has been everywhere. The latest social networking site is Acobay, which is a site designed to help individuals share information about “stuff.” Anyone can join and start an account. After writing a short bio, you choose items that you have such as cars, phones, and TVs, and rate them. By sharing information, people can get connected and discuss items they are interested in buying. It is a great way to meet new people and share helpful information.
