Get the latest versions of all the important software you use. Generally the updated ones would have new features, better performance not to mention lesser kinks and bugs. You can also add more memory, install a second hard drive for better data storage and partitioning and a faster graphics card. These are all available in most computer shops and you can even install them yourself.
