WIFI World Record

I've heard of a lot of world records in many fields, but the world record for WIFI is a first... Researcher Ermanno Pietrosemoli set the world record for the longest WIFI signal earlier this year.

The signal crossed about 237 miles between the mountain peaks of the Andes, located in Venezuela. It was achieved by using Intel’s WIFI long-range technology, and reached a speed of 3 Mbps. That’s what most of us get in the city, but amazingly, his gear only cost about $60 to set up—and is part of Pietrosemoli’s advocacy to make WIFI technology available to developing nations.

Pietrosemoli is the head of Escuela Latinoamerica de Redes, the Latin American networking association. He beat the record of 192 miles.
