Positioning of speakers can make all the difference in the quality of sound and effects. The left and right speakers should be placed wide apart enough to allow for the delivery of a convincing soundstage for both music and movies. However, being placed too far apart would create an acoustic hole in the middle. The placement is right when the sound blends seamlessly.
A properly set-up center channel allows the viewer to understand the dialogue in a film. This speaker is the heart of the home theater system. It can be placed above or below the screen so that the tweeter is about the same height as the left and right speakers. If this cannot be done, it should at least be aimed towards the prime listening position.
