Cyber squatting is a term used when somebody takes a name that resembles a trademark in order to profit from traffic to that address. Several laws and policies have been enacted to allow abusive registrations to be forcibly transferred. However, another form of abuse was produced when overzealous companies committed reverse domain hijacking against domain users who had legitimate grounds to hold their names.
Several other forms of abuse have likewise been seen as the World Wide Web increased in popularity. Different manipulations of names have been tried and continued to be tested for maximum effect to the intended beneficiary. Such is the price of popularity.
