Desktops or Laptops? (part 2)

Should you just get a very powerful desktop, or splurge on a lighter and more portable laptop? Here are some things to help you decide what kind of computer to get.

Laptops, of course, are more compact, can be carried around from work to office, and generally consume less electricity. They are ideal for those who bring their work with them—frequent business trips, or regular presentations to the client. They may also be useful for families, so Mom can surf for a recipe in the kitchen, while her kids can bring it to school in case they have a project.

But be prepared for the cost, and the very limited capacity to upgrade. That means you need to change laptops within years, as software requires more requirements.
