With Linux gaining a bigger foothold on the market, it is inevitable that even the big players will start to incorporate their own technologies and innovations for the Linux platform. Google has recently acceded to the demand from the Linux faithful by releasing Google Desktop for Linux, the company’s first native Linux app. The new app now joins the Windows and OS X versions in giving Linux users a better way of searching for text in such files as documents, emails, web histories as well as their Gmail accounts.
The beta version of the Linux version does not have a sidebar as well as gadgets, features that already exist in the other versions. In this regard, it seems like Linux users may still be getting the shorter end of the stick. Come on Google, you can do better than this!
