Anti Anti-Piracy Sentiment Increases Thanks to Media-Defender Leak

The recent rash of security leaks has embarassed and undermined MediaDefender, touted as the “leading provider of anti-piracy solutions in the emerging Internet-Piracy-Prevention (IPP) industry.” The first leak that circulated the internet included 6,000 internal emails that were made available for download in BitTorrent.

The emails contained evidence that the controversial MiiVi, a fake video download service mean to entrap P2P users, was indeed meant for that very pupose and not for the internal research project they said it was.

MediaDefender is known for their shady tactics so that the information from the security leaks came as no surprise but only served as a confirmation of what most people already know. The question now is: If those who are supposed to stop piracy, which is said to be wrong, is doing something wrong then who is right?
