There are some things that only the internet can provide. I recently had a discussion with a friend of mine about the types of things he would or wouldn’t buy online. I mentioned that I was redecorating and that I was searching for lighting fixtures online. My friend found this strange and claimed the age old claim of the fact that some things you have to see in person and it’s not worth shopping online for these kinds of items no matter how much money you save.

Now I do agree that there is something to the fact that you can get a better picture of what you are buying when you see the item physically in front of you as opposed to an image on your screen. But I still think the advantages surpass the disadvantages for these types of items and no, it’s not about the savings.

It’s about selection. One of the sites I shopped at wasfarreys.com. They have the largest selection of lighting fixtures I have ever seen and I am sure there is no physical store anywhere in the world that carries the stock they do. It’s just not physically possible. The site actually features a selection ranging in the hundreds of thousands (!) and you can find items from famous names such as george kovacs and minka lavery as well as a verity of cheaper brands. Like I said, there are some things that only the internet can provide.
