The idea behind thoof.com is to provide readers with their own personalized news and allows people to find articles on topics they like without having to go through generic news websites which are cluttered with uninteresting items. Rather than digging though hundreds of articles and news items only to find a handful on issues that appeal to them, thoof.com allows people to customize which types of items they are interested.

The base of the system is in what they call the Thoof Rank. This rank which can also be found on the badge at the bottom of this post determines how a publisher’s articles are ranked by users in terms of interest as opposed to other articles in their same field. I especially liked the signup process for their service and I must say they have done one of the best jobs in streamlining the signup process I have ever seen. At first all you are required to enter is your email address and press submit. Within seconds you will receive a link in the email to confirm your address at which point you are asked for a password and then a username. That’s it.
