I overheard my daughter discussing a certain game she was playing with a friend of hers and was pretty surprised to hear them talk about what sounded like dress up dolls. I though - my daughter the computer wiz who doesn’t give a second look at a toy that doesn’t have more buttons than a nuclear sub couldn’t possibly be playing with something like dress up dolls. But then I understood what it was about. Apparently the biggest thing among girls in her class is the cartoondollemporium.com. The site has taken the good old paper dolls dress up game and given it new life by setting it up for the twenty first century. The girls play for hours with virtual dolls, some of famous characters they know from T.V. and create various get ups using the site’s virtual doll “wardrobe”. Heck if she likes virtual dolls so much, maybe I won’t have to get her that Barbie next Christmas after all...
