iPhone’s marketing shows Apple’s astute eye for its market

When it comes to marketing nothing can beat Apple. The company has practically built the reputation and popularity of its products through a consistently strong marketing push that makes people crave for anything that has that ubiquitous Apple logo.

But with the release of the Apple iPhone, it looks like the company is achieving the same level of critical mass with a far more restrained marketing program. With the iPhone, the company allowed the product itself generate excitement and nothing else.

Apple’s very astute marketing of its products should be studied by other tech companies who feel that their products will only be appreciated by a niche market because of its price. Good advertising does help even for top tier tech products.

Bringing Games back Online

You know, there is a lot of irony with the way we use the internet today. On the one hand, we have gotten accustomed to purchasing just about everything online. People now order anything from their groceries to electronics, travel reservations and so much more online. The digital world has brought physical items so much closer. But on the other hand, the most digital item of all – computer software is still mostly sold on physical media such as CD’s and DVD’s. And since the vast majority of our software is sold by the large computer chains, most of the software in use is limited to the larger mainstream products.

But there are so many gems out there that just don’t get the exposure and shelf space that the larger companies do and they tend to get overlooked. This is a shame since software should be the easiest thing to distribute and there is so much room for smaller players to make their mark. One real gem in the gaming industry is the software company Midori. They make computer games for both PC’s and Macs which can be purchased and downloaded directly from their website at midoritech.com.

Good mac games are usually pretty hard to come by but Midori does a great job with a cool version of mac solitaire, Yoodoo, Ladybugs, mahjong and more.

Computers for Rent

Companies who often attend trade shows in their field know the work and hassle involved with setting up an exhibit and dismantling it each time. But the real trouble is maintaining your equipment which is handled by so many people throughout each show in proper working order for the next exhibit.

It is also annoying to realize that your computer equipment which is only used once every few months during exhibits becomes out of date after a year or two. If only you could rent the equipment you need just for the duration of the trade show and then forget about it.

Well, actually you can. computerrentals.com makes computer rental an easy process and takes all the trouble out of maintaining your equipment. You are always guaranteed equipment that works and can order the exact configuration you need for each show. The company meets all types of requirements and offers Mac Pro rental and even MacBook Pro rental options for people needing some mobility.

Make your voice be heard

They say that watching TV is a couch potatoes sport but the truth is that there are people who take watching tv shows more seriously and personally than others. These people don’t just watch the show, they have to tell the whole world just what they think about it.

Okay, I confess. I am a TV rant myself. But while until now nobody really listened, I now discovered criticsrant.com. The site is dedicated to TV and movie reviews and it gives stage to just about anyone wanting to join in on the movie discussions. You can interact with others and share your thoughts on your favorite (or worst) tv shows and movies. Make your voice be heard!

Not All Machines are Created Equal

When you are choosing a credit card machine, you have to make sure that you choose one with the proper applications. If you are going to use it in your restaurant, it is better to choose one which is mobile. If it will be sitting by your cash register and you have a retail shop, it is better to have a immobile one.

As well, you must take into account other parameters like service, processing time and tracking features. Once upon a time, there were only credit card impression machines with your merchant number imprinted onto a little metal piece and you had to insert special credit card slips with dirty carbon paper in the middle. There are many features that go into a merchant account, and another important feature is the time it takes for debit authorizations. When we use to use the impression machines, we had to call into the call centre for authorizations. Not only was this time consuming, but it gave the customer the impression that you didn't trust him. Now, with today's credit card machines, it is done automatically and almost instantaneously.

If you want my advice, take the machine that is cheapest with the proper application. They all work, and they are all serviced by your merchant account provider. As well, it is a good idea to have a imprint machine (the old type) on hand just in case. If your electronic one breaks down, at least you will have a back up. Even if the provider guarantees you same–day service if your machine breaks down, a wait from morning until the afternoon are enough to cause significant revenue loss. Imagine that it is one of your busiest days, and your machine breaks, allowing you only to except cheques or cash. Your customers will think that you are making black money and keeping the cash to yourself. Even if the imprint machine costs you a couple of dollars more a month, it is good insurance.

Retromadness Joined Payperpost

We recently signed up for a new blogging network called payperpost. If you haven’t heard of them yet, they have developed a unique system which allows bloggers to make money simply by reviewing and writing about certain sites and products. The idea behind their network is the concept of buzz marketing where advertisers post opportunities for bloggers to review their product who then get paid for it from the advertisers. It’s a pretty cool idea since everybody comes out ahead. Advertisers get one of the best type of advertising possible and generate a buzz among the online community (as opposed to bland banner ads which scream advertisement and tend to be ignored). Bloggers obviously benefit from this system too since they get paid for doing what they do anyway – update their blog. And if done right, the blog’s readers benefit as well since they get good reviews and recommendations of new products and services.

Signing up for the system is pretty easy and after you are approved into the system there are a number of advertiser opportunities available to blog about. Most of the opportunities are blocked for me at the moment since there are certain Google Pagerank and Alexa score requirements for most of the opportunities. The site says they update each blog’s Pagerank and Alexa score every 48 hours but so far it has been over a week and my blog still has a zero on both (even though we rank a PR4 and 325,000 Alexa score). I guess I will give them a few more days and if nothing changes I’ll contact support. In the meantime there are a number of opportunities I can still take that don’t have these requirements established so stay tuned and be on the lookout for our reviews.

What is Broadband anyway?

In general, broadband is telecommunication where frequencies of different lengths send information. A large range of frequencies is available from a broadband provider, information can transmitted on many frequencies or channels within the band, which allows a lot of information to be sent at one time (just think of a six-lane highway compared to a local residential street. Obviously, many more vehicles can travel on the highway compared to the little street). Get acquainted with different phrases and different definitions before you go and shop for a provider. If you know what you are talking about, you will be able to choose the best company for your needs.

If you are new to the game and you want to compare broadband providers and broadband ISP, it is a good idea to look at the internet to find more information. As well, asking friends and family always helps. In one area, there are up to 20 providers, some small and some large. If you ask your friends and family, they may send you to the one that they are using right now. This may be a good thing or a bad thing. Many times, your cable provider offers ADSL broadband in a package. You can get cable for your television and a fast internet provider from the some company. There is a good chance that you will be able to get a very good deal if you use the same provider for both your cable and your internet hook-up.

Podcasts for the Doc's

A new service by the leading healthcare portal med3q.com called BizRx was recently launched in an attempt to provide educational resources for doctors in areas of business to help run a successful practice. The idea behind the move is that while most doctors tend to keep up to date on news and trends related to their fields of expertise, they tend to lack the knowledge and skills required to run a successful business. And a medical practice is after all just that – a business.

The BizRx program was designed with doctors needs and schedules in mind and try to pass on the most cutting edge information in short audio segments which can be downloaded from their website and listened to on any MP3 player. Over the coming weeks, BizRx will be hosting top figures from business related fields including lawyers, corporate CEO’s and bankers for in depth and informative interviews. Each interview will be split up into short segments of 5 to 6 minutes to make easier listening. The first interview is already available online hosting Linda Mounce of Alliance Bank. Several more interviews are scheduled to be published online with a new release expected approximately once a week. A few future podcasts have already been announced with topics including: Finance issues for doctor’s practices and Succession plans and exit strategies for doctors.
